Typica

Origin: Yemen (via Java)

Typica is one of the oldest Arabica varieties, the genetic base of much of the world's coffee. In Panama it produces a classic, elegant cup with refined acidity.

Breeding and selection history
One of the two historical base landraces of Arabica (with Bourbon); the ancestor of Maragogipe and many modern selections. Largely replaced by higher-yielding varieties in Latin America, but retained where cup character justifies it.
